My name is Joe and I'm not quite a year old. My leg got hurt awfully bad and some nice people found me and brought me to the doctor. She couldn't save my leg...said it was shattered just below my shoulder...but that I'd be just fine without it. I'm learning to walk again and I already know how to sit for treats and food and climb into my kennel. I'm a really good dog and I don't know why someone did this to me.
Joe's a lab mix who's had his front right leg amputated at the shoulder. He's been treated for intestinal parasites and is heartworm negative and will be neutered as soon as he recovers from this surgery. Joe is a very sweet, gentle dog, has shown no signs of dog aggression and doesn't appear to be terribly interested in cats. At the hospital, he leans up against the cage with a cat in it and doesn't even react when the cat hisses at him. He loves to be petted and when he looks at you with those big brown eyes it just melts your heart. Joe will need a home with people who know how to take care of special needs animals. Please help Joe find his forever home.
If you'd like to help with the cost of Joe's surgery and recovery, we'd be very grateful. We're a small group and, as always, money's scarce. You can donate to Joe's fund by mailing a donation to the Natchitoches Humane Society at the above address or directly to his veterinarian, Dr. Becky Kieffer at the Natchitoches Animal Hospital, 1787 Highway 6, Natchitoches, LA 71457.
