A Caring Place Humane Society, an all volunteer, non-facility, Illinois non-profit organization rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs and cats from dog pounds, animal control facilities, and other shelters where they are at highest risk of being euthanized.

We have an urgent need right now for foster homes - but specifically, a foster home or adoptive home for a dog named JASMINE. She is between 2 and 3 years old, and weighs about 48-50 pounds, and is most likely a Yellow Labrador and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. We have had Jasmine in our program for over a year now and she has been adopted and returned twice due to unpredictable behavior. We have invested over $1200 in training and behavior modification for her - she lived with a dog trainer/behaviorist for two months to help us understand her triggers and manage her as best as we can.

Jasmine's issue is her reactivity to unfamiliar people and situations; she will lunge and bark aggressively. She is especially wary of children. She has NEVER bitten anyone, and can be easily managed by someone familiar with her behavior - she lived very well with her foster family for the past year but they have just moved to Texas. Jasmine is also insecure when meeting new dogs, but is usually fine with them - playful - once she meets them. Jasmine is very loving, playful and silly with people she knows. She did very well in her foster family, including living with two female children who were less than 12 years old.

I began rescuing cats about 11 years ago, I took in multiple cats, had them all FeLeuk/FIV tested, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. I have adopted out over 100 cats during that time. Almost 2 years ago, I found out my husband was spending all of our money and we were broke. I bought a new home and moved with all the animals. All I had at the time was $200, he had wiped out everything and later filed bankruptcy on over $300,000 worth debt (I have NO idea where the $ went, I have nothing to show for it). In the meantime, I became ill. It started with a lymphatic infection, later involved surgery, and now I have tumors growing on my uterus and thyroid. I am currently working but not making enough to carry all the expenses I have with the animals. I am spending approximately $800-$1000 a month on the cats. I believe they come first and want only the best for them. Unfortunately, that does not leave much for day to day expenses and bills. I had to file bankruptcy earlier this year because the banks where my ex had debt were coming after me. As a result of this, my home is now in foreclosure. I am awaiting paperwork to try to save my home but things are in the air. I will be facing surgery again and am uncertain what will be found. I want these cats to have the love and homes they deserve. Please help. I have many that are formal ferals that would love to be lap cats, I have some with medical problems that require medication. Felv Positive Kittens

Garbanzo and Soya were born on August 4 2009 and are currently 3 months old. They have been happy and healthy kittens since birth. They are an adorable, mackerel tabby brother and sister pair. They enjoy being held, being petted, and playing non stop. They are social kittens who enjoy running, jumping, and wrestling each other. These two kittens are very close to each other. They are perfect kittens in just about every way. However, they have tested positive for feline leukemia due to exposure from their mother.

I want these kittens to have a chance to grow up and live as long as their bodies will let them live. Most kittens with feline leukemia live for 9-18 months. These kittens and their mother were rescued by me and a few other concerned individuals. All of my foster cats typically go to an area no kill shelter, but this shelter and the other area shelters are not able to take this family due to their feline leukemia. I do not have the space to keep these kittens forever. They are currently living in my bathroom. I can't give them more space because I have three senior cats of my own. Hello,

My name is Jessica Augsburger and I have some very important questions for you. I am military serving in Anchorage AK. I used to live in WI and have a very close friends, Alise and TJ, who live near Chicago IL. They recently adopted a kitten named Sam. Sam was the result of TJ's older sister bringing home a cat and not getting her spayed. The other cats in the litter have all been adopted out to loving homes. Sam, I am afraid will need a person to adopt him who is willing to adopt a special needs cat.

Sam was born without the use of his legs and his anus (not sure exactly what is wrong) was pretty much inside out. Sam is forced to wear a diaper all day long because Alise and TJ work full time. They love Sam like he was their child, but every vet has turned them down for treatment saying that the best thing would be to put Sam down. They are appalled at the idea because like I said they love Sam. Alise and TJ would, ideally, love to keep Sam. But sadly, they do work full time and do not have the time or the funds to take care of all of Sam's needs.

I had the honor of meeting Sam this last month, October, when I was down in Wisconsin having everyone meet my new daughter. Sam is like nothing I have ever seen. Although he has no use of his legs and his butt is inside out, he is the happiest sweetest cat I have EVER met in my life. He doesnt have trouble moving around. In fact, I have witnessed Sam crawl up a foot stool. Alise and TJ are willing to foster Sam for as long as it takes to find someone with the time, money, and love that he deserves. I was wondering if you knew of anyone or any organization that would be willing to help them out.

I was wondering if anyone lives in the Carlinville, IL area. I visited the Macoupin County Shelter there, and was terribly distressed by the living conditions of the animals. Although the help seemed sincerely interested in there wellbeing, clearly there is not enough help/money to function even at a minimal level. Does anyone know where they might apply for free food or help building more fenced kennels etc.?

Karlie is medium-sized, unspayed, about 35 lbs, only 7 months old. Karlie is in Lincoln or nearby. Lincoln is a small town in the small Logan County in the middle of Illinois. Owners will sign Karlie over to a rescue organization if one will offer to take her. Flies are eating her so bad her ears are bleeding. She can go on a Saturday transport to Chicago IF SOMEONE OFFERS TO RESCUE HER.

Panda has been in foster care for over a year. Although she is safe, she is not a happy kitty. She would prefer to be the ONLY queen in her castle since she much prefers the company of people. Panda is about 6 years old; she is a very healthy girl and is current on her shots. She is spayed and micro-chipped.

She loves to look regal while she waits for the love and attention of her people. She does like a regular routine and does not like to be left alone for long periods. (Days, not hours)
