I will take any help I can get for Ebony. She is short for a lab & looked to be solid black or nearly so.

Background: Ebony was running along a busy road here in Gainesville, very frightened. Animal Control shot her with a tranquilizer and took her to the shelter. When she came around she growled at everyone and kept this up for days.

Because I contacted the shelter director David Flagler, they held her longer than usual. I told him I put an ad in the local paper & I sent several callers over to the shelter to see if she was their dog.

These extra days gave Ebony the time she needed to begin to trust the shelter staff. Not only has she quit growling, but she allows them to touch her now.

Her other two issues are both fixable, if only there was enough time. One is a fairly large case of treatable mange. The other is aggression toward other dogs. They haven't treated her skin because they plan to kill her.

David himself told me over email that he believes most dogs can overcome aggression if given enough time & the proper rehab. As my friend Kim said about Ebony yesterday "if Michael Vick's dogs could be adopted, there's hope for Ebony." Anyway, they plan to euthanize Ebony soon. They say she is "unadoptable" due to the aggression.

WHAT WOULD SAVE EBONY’S LIFE is for some person skilled in rehab to offer to take Ebony & work with her. I would pay for the mange treatment & could possibly help with transport.

Do you know of anyone, anywhere, that can help Ebony? Time is so short for her. One employee told me last week "she's taking up cage space that could be used by another dog."

It sounds like David doesn't want to kill Ebony, but he is very leery of letting just anyone take her, due to this other-dog aggression.

Oh, one more thing......Ebony had a one-foot length of rope tied to her collar when they caught her. I believe she may have been tied up somewhere for a long time and the rope finally frayed enough for her to escape. She is not starved, but was terrified of the outside world & untrusting of people. I can't imagine what type of life she had but I believe she can get over the 2 remaining problems caused by whoever had her.

Shiloh is a 19-month-old Husky/Lab mix in a Gainesville, FL foster home who is READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME.

Shiloh is a family dog who loves kids. He lets them climb on him! He is friendly & playful with other dogs and cats, too.

Shiloh is crate-trained and housebroken. At night his foster person says "Shiloh, time for bed!" and he goes right into his crate.

He loves the outdoors & likes water. Rides well in a car.

Shiloh is up-to-date on all his shots & neutered.

Full vet records available.

Shiloh would do well in a home with kids and another dog. He learns quickly. NOTE: Shiloh can jump over a baby gate barrier. He likes to watch TV on the couch with the family. His previous person said, "He really watches the TV, too."

Shiloh will put his head in your lap and roll over to have his chest rubbed. If you stop rubbing him, he will tap you gently with his paw to get more petting.

Shiloh is ~60 lbs. with a plush, soft coat. He is healthy and likes being with people.

Hello, my name is Heidi. I am a Veterinary Assistant at Sunshine Animal Hospital. I am looking and imploring help in finding a forever home for a 5 year old orange and white DSH, FIV+ cat. I found "Charlie" several months ago when we moved into a new home. You could tell right away that this cat had, had a HARD life. He had a very large open wound on his neck. It only took me a couple of days to get Charlie used to me and in no time I was able to catch him and take him to the vet.

At the clinic, we vaccinated him, neutered him, and began treatment on his wound. It had originally been my intention to get him neutered, treated, then return him to the outside area around my house, however, we discovered that he was FIV+. I decided then that I would have to find him a home.

I contacted every cat shelter in the state and they all refused Charlie based on his FIV+ status. It took almost 3 weeks for his wound to heal completely and then I moved him back to my house. Charlie is a very sweet cat and enjoys the company of people very much. He has never been petted much and often gives very soft warning bites when he has had enough, for that reason he would probably not be a good cat for a house with young children, and he is very fearful of dogs. I have done supervised meetings with my cats, and Charlie seems to be okay with other cats and may do well in a house with another FIV+ cat.

I like Charlie a lot, but I have 3 other cats at home. I have to keep him separate and I don't think he is getting the attention that he deserves. The reason I keep Charlie separate is because I free feed my 3 other cats. I have a cat that has IBD and renal disease and needs to have food available at all times. My other 2 cats do well with this but Charlie has a tendency to overeat and must be feed a specific amount of food.

He is such a playful and lovable cat and I know he would make someone very happy. Remember, even though he is FIV+, he is a healthy cat and can expected to live a long life. Jenny & Mosie’s person is very ill & these loving dogs need a new home.

Jenny (female) & Mosie (male) are American bulldogs who are bonded for life and must stay together. They’re in Gainesville, FL. Transport can be arranged.

One is white, one partly brindle. They are about 6 years old, spayed & neutered, UTD on vaccs, and in good health. Soon Jenny will have right knee ligament surgery (cost will be covered) but will need follow-up car & PT.

Jenny & Mosie are housetrained and walk on leashes. They are well-mannered: not barkers, not diggers, not fence-jumpers. Both dogs are good with children, other dogs, and cats. They’ve been walked regularly by an 11-year-old girl. They have never shown aggression. They’ve had some obedience training. (They know "Sit" and possibly more.)

Both dogs sleep in the house and are never left outside. They sleep in beds in their person’s bedroom.

Four cats needing homes..

Hi. I am looking to find homes for my four cats. My husband walked out on me earlier this year and I am having to move into a one bedroom apartment so I must find homes for my cats. I am so heartbroken but I have no choice. I refuse to leave them at an animal shelter. I live near the Daytona area. I have three female cats and a male. The two are brother and sister and I want them to stay together. If anyone knows of anyone interested or can help me figure out how to place them please let me know.
