Have you seen the new AZ calendar?

Have you found where the AZ events calendar is "hidden?" It's the first one under the resources tab.

Here, you can find what's going on around the state and ways to get involved.

We will post new events/meetups/trainings/volunteer info as they are received. The only things we won't be posting is regular weekly adoptions at pet supply stores.

So go ahead and check it out. Know of an event that we don't? Please send all events to be considered for the calendar to bestfriendsaz@gmail.com please also include Calendar Consideration in the subject line.

well today is nov. 8th. :( watever happens at robinhood animal rescue this week. May god bless those animals.. i should have not looked at the faces and into their eyes. heart breaking. but by the grace of god i hope some of them were saved.. today is a very sad day. Some may now pass over rainbow bridge and never have to suffer again. sometimes people let you down. last post for me. :(.

thanks for the info. i forwarded it to robinhood animal rescue. im just heartbroken. 4 days left. i cant do anything. i literally am not watching the news or reading the paper. i dont want to know how this ends up. i can imagine a happy ending where all animals get to better places, so for me perhaps thats the best way to go. i appreciate all the views this has got and just hope one animal got a new home because of this.

ALL THE INFO IS ABOVE. IF YOU ARE A LOCAL RESCUE OR PERSON WHO CAN HELP. PLEASE DO.

SOMETIMES LIFE JUST ISNT FAIR. I GOTTA FEELING THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES. SAD IN AZ :(

Those are some really good ideas! She is looking into help until she is recuperated. I'm trying to help her out in case she can't do this. Being a third party, I'm not sure about the meds. The foster took her to the same vet but I don't know what all transpired in their conversation.

How long is back surgery recovery?

Perhaps volunteers may lend a hand walking the pup?

Any local dog walking companies who would be interested in community free press for doing a good deed? Maybe local editors of newspaper and local mags and pet publications would like to rewards a good deed doer with some free press or advertising for tim they spend exercising a dog so it can stay in its Foster Home?

Plus generate press and maybe find it a home if fosters do not wish to keep the pup.

What about another foster home for length of time for surgery recovery?

This is a time to think out of the box, unless the foster owner is not interested in keeping the animal?

Ask for donations from businesses to pay for dog walking services perhaps?

Is there a Petco or PetSmart in your area?

What does vet say about original owner's medications?

She has an anal fistula that requires her to be fed a special diet to keep her stools soft. Original owner gave her med for irritable bowel but wonder if that was accurate. Also, original owner had her de-barked. Current foster says she is a dream but can't exercise her due to the back surgery.

Urgent placement for purebred german shepherd needed

My friend saved a GS from a lady who was going to euthanize her because she had to move. Now my friend had back surgery and is having difficulty managing a new rescue. GS is 8 and has had a history of a health problem. Please let me know if there is a placement for foster or adoption out there. Pictures available.

I will not go further into the problems created by Robin Hood and if you think you can get by their criteria then do give them a try but PLEASE do not malign the MANY groups who DID step up to help and were turned away with nastiness.

We are a close community here in the Valley of the Sun and DO step up to help each other (group/rescue-wise) as we can!

dear sir. dont shoot the messenger. i forward your email to rhar last night. i have in the past 2 years contacted many local rescues to volunteer etc.. do u know not one has ever returned my call.? i travel to ut once a month to volunteer. THE robin hood guy answered last week and yes he was alittle grouchy, but upon him bad mouthing bf and me telling him to shut up. he calmed down. i have in the recent weeks have been to various rescues asking if possibly they could help and all were nasty and judgemental toward rhar.

im a bigger person than to make the animals suffer because of an individual. SO with that. dont shoot the messenger. i have 4 rescue dogs. the last straight from the streets of elmirage on tues. covered w ticks

starving and homeless.. i with my own money rescued her. So sir. i wish u luck and hope that some people not rescues step up.. u have ur right to an opinion , but so do I. with great respect for you and wat u do.

ps: please do not harass me this is about animals and just because u run or operate a rescue does not give you the right to judge normal people trying to help.

Coming in to the holiday seasons, there are always the same basic rules and guidelines. These are a great start to helping your pet learn to love the holidays as much as you do.

We make sure to have a special dinner (one that their tummies are already used to) and feed our dogs before any festivities begin.

Once they have eaten and settled down, we have them in their special places (room/kennel/crate) with their favorite toys to help keep them calm.

After the festivities, they get a special cookie and the rest of the evening is regular schedule. This lets them know that, while something different happened, it doesn't mean they need to be concerned.

If you are considering adopting a new pet, this is a great way to handle the holiday stresses as they will already be a little stressed from coming into a new place. It is OK to adopt right before a holiday and the PACC911 St Francis Blessing of the Animals and Adoption event this weekend is a great place to start.......
