Grab your leash and support homeless animals on November 7

The Peoria Sports Complex will soon be alive with the sound of music…and pets and people! On November 7, the Arizona Humane Society will be hosting Pet-a-Palooza, including a Stadium Stroll, at the Complex. The 1.5 mile walk will kick off the pet and family friendly event at 9 am with Pet-a-Palooza activities scheduled to begin at 10.

“This will be a fun way to support the animals in our shelter,” said Guy Collison, executive director of the Arizona Humane Society. “Combining pets and music in a festival atmosphere just seems to fit well.”

Registration for the Stadium Stroll is currently available online (www.azhumane.org/stadium-stroll) and walkers are encouraged to help raise additional funds for the animals in the organization’s care. The registration fee is $25 and for those who register online prior to October 30, a free ticket to Pet-a-Palooza will be included. Every walker that registers will receive a water bottle but there are incentives for those who raise additional funds. These include everything from a collapsible dog dish to guest host duties on the organization’s weekly television show, Pets on Parade! Walkers can also register at the event, beginning at 8 am.

Walkers are welcome to include their animal friendly pet companions as part of the festivities. However, the organization does require that pets remain leashed at all times. Dogs must be at least four months of age and those in heat will not be able to participate. They also request that animals be current on vaccinations and wear identification and rabies tags at all times.

Pet-a-Palooza, beginning at 10 am, will be packed with family friendly events throughout the day. Dog agility demonstrations, animal/caricature artists, appearances from local radio personalities and an owner/dog lookalike competition are just a few of the events currently scheduled. For fans of the organization’s Animal Planet series, Animal Cops: Phoenix, Emergency Animal Medical Technicians will also be doing a meet and greet. Live music will be featured throughout the day. Artists scheduled to appear include Blaine Larson, Williams Riley and Fast Ryde. Tickets for Pet-a-Palooza can be purchased online or at the event for $10.

Grab your leashes and your sneakers and head on over to the Peoria Sports Complex for a day filled with fun, fur and festivities on November 7!
