Lobby Day Will Offer Chance to Learn Process and Help Bill

January 9, 2008 : 12:40 PM
Anyone is invited to attend January 30th, when we hope to talk to as many lawmakers as possible!

On January 30th, YOU can make a difference during a lobby day at the Georgia Capitol! In the morning a short period of instruction will allow you to learn tips and techniques from experienced lobbyists on how to effectively communicate with your elected officials. Then in the afternoon, you will be able to meet with lawmakers and let them know why passage of tougher dog fighting laws is so important.

We ask that you please RSVP to Best Friends Animal Society Campaign Specialist Jon Dunn at jond@bestfriends.org. That will allow us to keep you up to date on details for the lobby day. Just tell us your name, and where you are from!

Wanted to pass this along. I just learned that Amazon.com is selling books on dog fighting. I put in "dog fighting" in the search bar and the first one that came up was titled, "The Dog Pit - Or, How To Select, Breed, Train And Manage Fighting Dogs, With Points As To Their Care In Health And Disease". A few people protesting won't do anything but many voices can get these books off their website. At the very least tell others that Amazon is perpetuating horrible crimes against these dogs by selling books that glorify it.

"Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace" Dr. Albert Schweitzer

There is something lacking in the heart of a person who can turn his back on a suffering living creature.

May I take it a step further... Until the world extends its's circle of compassion to include all living things, the world will not itself find peace.

The bloodshed of any living creature should not bring amusement, but a deep resolve to step in and rescue the suffering creature. Anything short of this, brings humanity a step closer to destruction.
