If you missed the party, it's a pity or in this case, a pittie.
The first annual Pumpkin Pittie Party was held Thursday, October 29th at Salt Lake County Animal Services (511 W. 3900 S. in SLC) from 3 to 7 PM and included plenty of pretty pitties dressed in holiday apparel. There were pittie pirates and pumpkin pitties, ballerinas and even a chicken pittie.
Best Friends Animal Society's Pit Bulls: Saving America's Dog campaign helped Salt Lake County Animal Services host the fun which included a Pit Bull Pumpkin carving contest, a shelter dog costume contest, refreshments and of course lots of wondeful dogs and cats available for adoption. The event garnered some great coverage from local media. Click here for a glimpse of the festivities.
The party was to celebrate Salt Lake County Animal Services new Tuesday and Thursday evening hours (below) as well as to let people know more about the shelter's ongoing Pit Bull Program. As part of the event, the shelter offered a $50 discount off adoption fees for Pits and Pit mixes waiting for new homes. Best Friends and Salt Lake County Animal Services are working together to improve the image of short-haired muscular mutts and save lives through increased adoption and training efforts.
