I realized when I was working on 'The Book' that I don't feature Newt very much. The photo is of Newt, courtesy of jennifer Hayes. Newt is a very handsome, VERY solid black cat with no tail, and ambiguous social skills. He has a bandaged foot that has to have the bandage changed daily, and this is truly when his strange social skills come into play. First. the caregiver gets everything ready - the appropriate pieces of tape are cut and placed within reach, the crucial decision of what color vet wrap to use (since he is a black cat, the brighter colors look best), and then the one tool that this could not be performed without is brought into view - kitten kibble. Of course, once the kibble has been pulled out of the locked and dark recesses of the cupboard - all hell breaks loose. ALL the kitties want, demand - nay, DESERVE! kitten kibble! NOW! So, the kibble is proportioned out, and then Newt is procured and put into a cubby, with a well stacked pile of kitten kibble at the appropriate end of Newt. This is when the fun begins, and the talent commences. Newt can growl, grumble, mutter, AND eat ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Truly something that needs to be witnessed.
Thankfully this week there were a LOT of witnesses! Pat from Florida (the 3D version no less!) and Linda & Lavonne from San Francisco, and Jennifer Hayes taking photos were all witness to the Newt talent. Caregiver Barbara proved to have a wonderful touch however, and it was a very brief show!
It was a cold day out, and it was great to be indoors (thanks to Lisa for having it all clean and cozy for us!). And - I THINK I may have finally figured out who is who on the Cozze/Parke front - Cozze has slightly curly fur - so - Cozze is Curly. Alliteration tends to work for me!
We got remarkably little read, but had a lovely time visiting and loving on the cats. I wont' be in for two weeks - next week is Marks going away gig (he's leaving Best Friends to pursue his love and passion for photography) and the week after I will be quaffing radioactive beverages. I will be back after my surgery though!
