Please attend Wednesday, February 11th orientation meeting

Want to help make a difference in your own community, helping to put an end to the cruel puppy mill industry?

If the demand for pet store puppies ceases, retail establishments will stop selling them. And you can help make that happen by informing the public about the true origin of those pups. Get started by attending a Best Friends Puppy-Store-Free Las Vegas campaign orientation.

Date: Wednesday, February 11
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: College of Southern Nevada
Charleston Campus, Room B-140
6375 W. Charleston Blvd.
Las Vegas, NV
(map of location)

You CAN make a difference!

For more information:

• For additional details about the orientation, you may contact tiffanih@bestfriends.org or kellio@bestfriends.org.
• Join the The Truth About the Pet Trade community to learn more about pet mills and the Best Friends national campaign.
• Download Nine things you can do to help stop puppy mills.
• Do not patronize stores that sell puppies and kittens; not for an animal, not even for supplies. If you are considering a new pet, please adopt from a shelter or rescue. You can search through thousands of homeless animals posted on Petfinder.com to find one near you.

I've been watching the great work BF has been doing in LA with their Puppy-Store Free campaign and am excited to help here in Vegas!

I lived in Vegas for a little while. One thing always struck me about the puppy shops of Vegas: many of them are not making any attempt to build a long term business, they're just hustlers making a quick buck. They pop up in one of the many strip malls, do what business they can, then quickly disappear when chased away or shut down, only to pop up again later in another place under another name. I only lived in Vegas for about a year and a half; I was amazed by how many puppy shops went in and out of business in that time.

Here's a shot I took of a new one that I noticed during a trip through Vegas in July:

Pretty obvious that the operator is well aware that his business is poorly regarded - check out that signage!

Can't wait until everyone knows about these scum and no reputable person would be caught dead near a puppy store.

You may not agree with everything PETA does but they protested at this year's AKC dog show and were wearing KKK costumes. Their message is the AKC is trying to create a "master race" with purebred dogs. I thought the comparison was interesting and since puppy mills are the biggest producers of these purebreds, more power to PETA on this one!

And jbsibely; what a tacky store you showed! I'll bet a million bucks they are also tax dodgers, probably don't even have a real business license. They are just like cockroaches, when you turn the lights on they disappear. Then when nobody's looking they come back out.

To your point jbsibley, I believe that store is closed! Or perhaps just in a new location with a new name.
