Peanut recalls affecting pets as well as people
The first canine case of Salmonella in connection with the recent recall of peanut products has now been confirmed. A dog from Douglas County, Oregon is reported to have eaten Happy Tails Multi-Flavored Dog Biscuits, which were among the pet products recalled.
This is the first instance of a dog contracting Salmonella from the recent outbreak; 575 people have been sickened.
As of this posting, eight varieties of peanut butter based dog treats have been recalled; however, it is important to remember to not feed pets any human food that may have also been affected.

For a complete list of products affected by the recall, including pet treats, see the FDA peanut product recall list.
