Our campaign continues! Join us for our eleventh peaceful demonstration against Bird Paradise! ***

Every year thousands of birds are sold by one of the largest bird stores in the nation: Bird Paradise. Pet store birds are deprived of their natural environment and often imprisoned in cages. Even the most well intentioned person cannot provide for the needs of any bird. Bird Paradise brags about having thousands of birds for sale. On their own Web site, they claim they are the "World's Largest Bird Store." Let's tell them that profiting from the exploitation of birds is not something to be proud of.

*** We love your kids, both human and non-human, but please leave them at home. We demonstrate on the public right-of-way which is adjacent to Route 130, a busy highway. It's safe, but not recommended for the little ones. Thanks for your cooperation!

To see video of actual bird mills, visit the Bird Mills – The Hidden Truth website.

Signs and leaflets are provided. Parking is available on the side streets next to Bird Paradise. Please do not drive/walk through Bird Paradise's parking lot or grass lot.

Date: Saturday, February 7, 2009
Time: 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: Public right of way in front of Bird Paradise
551 E Rt. 130 S
Burlington, NJ 08016
(map to location)

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

? Sadly, just as there are puppy mills, where dogs are treated like livestock and solely bred for profit, there are also bird mills. Please join others who want to put an end to the suffering of the captive birds and join them in their peaceful Bird Paradise protest on Saturday, February 7.

? If you cannot attend the demonstration but would still like to help birds, please take a minute to send an email to the local papers. Ask them to cover the protest.

And feel free to add your thoughts about keeping birds in captivity, profiting from breeding, etc...

"Even the most well intentioned person cannot provide for the needs of any bird."

This is the most ignorant statement anyone can possibly make. It's the same militant, and uneducated position PETA takes.

If this is the rational behind the proposed protest action, where can I contribute funding to oppose it?

gmerin-
Birds need to fly and flock. They're wild, not domesticated like your dog or cat.
Can you really say, honestly, that you can meet these needs?
And you say you want to support the opposition -
do you really mean that? The opposition is the stores selling birds and breeding them by the thousands. Your support of those stores will mean that the owners can perhaps purchase the latest model Porsche. Very sad.

Acording to this there is no way for anyone to own a happy/healthy bird! Our family is happy to include many species including the ring leader of the bunch "skittles" our white belly caique. I also work in the pet industry and our goal is to match up eveyone with the right animal. Why can't everyone meet in the middle, why does it have to be no pets at all as this bird article pushes? Yes you can have happy birds of many different species as part of your family just as you can a dog, cat, reptile ect. You just need the proper care and TLC.
