Friday, January 9th, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Friday, January 9th, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. staff, volunteers, and community members will help to raise awareness of animals in Central Ohio kept outside in the cold.
Thousands of animals in Central Ohio are kept outside each winter with little to no protection from the elements. Many of these animals either die from exposure or end up with severe skin damage.
Freeze Out 2009 hopes to raise awareness of the suffering these animals endure each day, as well as to educate owners to the requirements for outside animals. A goal of $10,000 has been set to help purchase supplies such as dog houses, for distribution this winter. The money raised will also help fund emergency response personnel to respond to calls about animals left outside.
Beginning at 8:00 pm this Friday night at the Humane Society of Delaware County, participants will be taking their place outside in the cold with no shelter or other protection from the cold besides their clothes. Midnight brings about the beginning “30 Minutes Extreme,” as participants will strip down to only their bare necessities to experience the bitter cold with no protection.
Attendees are invited to participate in the event if they wish for 30 minutes up to 10 hours. If you do not wish to attend, come out and offer support and encouragement for the participants.
During the event area celebrities will be stopping by and Humane Society staff will be on hand to answer questions about Freeze Out 2009, to provide information on this issue, as well as tips for cold weather care for companion animals. Hot drinks and snacks will be on hand for all.
