Risking 36 degree water on New Year’s Day for Longmont Humane Society
Talk about taking one for the team, Bikers for Best Friends volunteer Ambassador, Mark Stefanowski, donned his swim suit and took the plunge on New Year’s Day to help support the animals of the Longmont Humane Society.
“The weather was actually quite nice,” noted Stefanowski. “In fact, at 48 degrees, it was so nice that we had to turn it up a notch and ride to the event on the Harleys wearing bathrobes (mine is a very nice Victoria Secret number from my wife's closet).”

However, air and water temperatures are two completely different things, and once in, the water was a frigid 36 degrees.
That can be quite a shock to the system, but it was well worth it, as the dedicated group of volunteers (all willing to forgo warmth and comfort) raised almost $5,000 for the animals of Longmont.
Obviously not a feat for the faint hearted, but it is obviously a labor of love for Stefanowski, as this was his fifth year in a row participating on behalf of the animals.
I guess you could say his polar bear event went swimmingly.
