Snow, Wind Destroy Dog Runs, Make Others Unusable

Update Dec. 18 2:30 p.m.
ALL DOGS ARE SAFE. Tia, Linda, Nancy and Dawn and volunteers got all the dogs out of the severe weather, but still need supplies and volunteers for Friday.

1) Roads (Hwy 14) JUST re-opened this afternoon.
SOME shoveling has been done, but he snow is very deep, still.
they could use volunteers wq/shovels, iron rakes & ice picks
to help AGAIN on Friday.

2) It was 40 degrees & sunny today; as the sun goes down, snow freezes so, shoveling on Friday needs to happen 9AM to mid-day,
3) ALL dogs are OK, have blankets; BUT they do need MORE blankets!!
ON FRIDAY, 12/19, Starting at **9AM** YOU CAN HELP BY:

1) Still, DO call & check on the condition of these
roadways: Hwy 14, Sierra Hwy & Anthony Road, in Agua Dulce

2) Needed Friday: VOLUNTEERS **w/SHOVELS** & IRON RAKES,
& ICE PICKS ARE NEEDED TO SHOVEL SNOW that remains in the
dogs' pens. IMPORTANT!! You must bring your own SHOVEL, IRON RAKE & PICK!! Wear WARM clothes, GLOVES, HAT, BOOTS if you have them!!

The background
Villalobos Rescue Center in Agua Dulce (Canyon Country) has an urgent need for volunteers and supplies for roughly 150 pit bull dogs affected by the extreme weather this week. All dogs had to be moved indoors to temporary housing yesterday when wind and snow made their outdoor runs unlivable.

The following information was relayed through another pit bull rescue group late on Dec. 17:

Nancy Anderson at The Brittany Foundation, a neighbor to Villalobos Rescue and Linda Blair's Worldheart Foundation said roads were closed last night and anyone wanting to volunteer today or tomorrow should call first for updated road information. The area was expecting several feet of snow.

ALL dogs had been moved inside with blankets; some volunteers were trying to keep ahead of the snow by shoveling.

What You Can Do:

1) FIRST, please call to check on the condition of these roadways:
Hwy 14, Sierra Hwy & Anthony Road, in Agua Dulce

2) VOLUNTEERS **w/SHOVELS** ARE NEEDED TO SHOVEL SNOW from the dog pens. This is the biggest concern. You must bring your own SHOVEL!!

3) Donate urgently needed supplies ASAP:
SHOVELS
BLANKETS
CEDAR SHAVINGS - bagged, or trucked in, for dog pens
FLASHLIGHTS - in case they lose power
WATER - bottled for dogs, as pipes are freezing
TARPS
PLYWOOD
IGLOOS / DOG HOUSES
EXTENSION CORDS
ELECTRIC SPACE HEATERS
HEAT LAMPS
WARM DOG COATS - Medium, large
newly added on Dec. 18:
Heavy Canvas TARPS w/GROMMETTS, if possible; wind rips
right thru any light weight material.
GOOD HOSES!! hoses have split from the cold
IRON RACKS, ICE PICKS
