Pit bull rescue in Santa Clarita needs immediate help
Best Friends Network volunteers Sandi Cain and Corissa Babbitt have been spreading the news far and wide to get help to Villalobos Rescue Center, the largest pit bull sanctuary in California, located in Santa Clarita. As of 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, the area was experiencing a serious frost and wind advisory.
Temperatures were in the 20s to 30s and the winds have been 35 mph or greater. Tia Torres, of Villalobos Rescue Center, stated that “as bad as the snow is, it’s the wind that is the big problem,” noting the gusts were so strong, it was difficult to stand.
Today, Thursday, December 18, the sun is shining and the work must begin, to clean up the kennels and repair wind and snow damage. Currently, the roads to Villalobos are still closed, though Tia expects them to open later today.
When the roads do open Villalobos will need blankets, shovels, straw bales and manpower.
While the local rescue community has been supportive and wants to help, it is impossible to get there at this time. Click here for travel updates.
