Driven out of England about two hundred years ago, the last of the sea eagles completely disappeared in 1918. If all goes well they will be reintroduced to the Norfolk coast next summer by Natural England, click here RSPB, click here and Anglian Waters click here .
The UK’s largest bird of prey, with a wingspan of 8 feet, they have earned the nickname of ‘flying barn doors’. With only 7000 pairs left in the world conservation efforts are underway to increase their numbers.
Though the plan to bring these mighty birds back is not without opposition, over 90% of the population is in favor.
Once part of the natural environment, the majority of people feel that sea eagles deserve to once again soar the English skies. If all goes well the coming months will see these majestic birds return.
