Over the last decade the desire to enrich and prolong the lives of animals has led to the growth of veterinary medicine. Procedures, such as artificial legs for horses, were once only in the realm of dreams.

Now it is possible to operate on fish.

When Carla, a ten-year resident of the London Aquarium, click here developed a hernia Vet Sue Thornton performed amazing surgery.

After a thirty-minute operation this lucky angelfish was able to return to the Caribbean display tank. Once again delighting all who see her.
