Tune in Friday, October 3 for new episode of Dogtown

Many of the animals who come to the Best Friends Sanctuary do so due to medical or behavioral issues. This Friday’s episode of Dogtown will highlight three such dogs as they are helped to recuperate to the point where they may one day find loving homes.

The show will feature:
Vivian: a Hurricane Katrina rescue who displays similarities to post-traumatic stress syndrome. Though she has not bitten anyone at Best Friends, she lashes out and both Michelle Besmehn and John Garcia work to help her learn to trust.
Tooy: a senior Labrador rescued from the Gabbs hoarding situation is diagnosed with an infected tumor that Dr. Mike Dix removes.
Tashi: despite her young age, she could hardly walk due to torn ligaments as well as some hip displasia. Dr. Patti Iampietro must perform two complex surgeries while Caregiver Betsy Kidder nurtures her round-the-clock.

“Road to Recovery” is scheduled to air this Friday, October 3 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on the National Geographic channel.

There will be one more new episode, plus rebroadcasts of previously aired shows in the coming weeks, so pop some popcorn and settle in for some must-see TV.

New Lives: Friday, October 10
- Wycheck must slim down to hopefully avoid a risky hip surgery.
- Sherry Woodard helps elderly Knightly cope after experiencing the devastating loss of his family.
- Karina needs to be kept busy to help curb undesirable behaviors.

Second Chances: Friday, October 17

Project Rescue: Friday, October 24

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

1. Be sure to tune in this and future Fridays to watch episodes of Dogtown on National Geographic.

Get a sneak peak at this Friday’s episode featuring Vivian in Katrina dogs.

2. Have you been considering adding a four-legged member to your family? Vivian is available for adoption. She and the other Dogtown residents would love nothing more than a family to call their own.

I hope that they do some episodes on CATS, and the other animals at BF.

I'll be on the edge of my seat for another Friday evening! Have I said how much I love this series too many times??? Probably. I genuinely hope Nat Geo will continue this series and will consider branching out to other series about BF. There's so much going on in Kanab, across the country and around the globe in which BF is involved that the "story" ideas seem endless.

Dogtown is the best show on tv! I was there a couple of weeks ago and they were filming more episodes. I was told there would be at least 10 more. Don't know why they're only running one more new one at the moment, but there will be more in the future.
