The University of Missouri School of Law now has its first club dedicated to helping animals. AARF or Advocates for Animal Rights and Fairness was created to provide law students a way to help animals through volunteer activities and education.
Their purpose, as represented in the bylaws includes, “providing a forum for education, advocacy, and scholarship aimed at protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system, and raising the profile of the field of animal law.”
Their first activity involves volunteering for Paws in the Park, an event in Columbia, Missouri put on by Columbia Second Chance to raise funds and awareness of homeless animals in mid-Missouri. Future plans include raising funds for the Central Humane Society, creating cat beds out of sweaters for Columbia Second Chance, and a yappy hour for students and their dogs to socialize together.
