Lower Garden District hotspot The Bridge Lounge, best known for its dog friendly atmosphere, will change things up a bit on Saturday, October 11th when it breaks out the catwalk to host a fundraiser for the Louisiana SPCA. Local fashion designers John Delgadillo and Aurora Knox will be showcasing their talents in a show dubbed “Alegria,” which translates to happiness.
Proceeds raised that night will go to help the Louisiana SPCA operate its full-service veterinary clinic, which is committed to bettering the lives of animals and the people whose lives they enrich. The Louisiana SPCA serves thousands of animals every year through a tapestry of programs from sheltering, adoption, and medical care, to humane education, legislation and advocacy.
Emceed by Mike Theis (MIX 92.3) the evening will feature unique fashions from both designers. Hair and make-up will be courtesy of Tommy Centanni of Paris Parker Aveda Salon & Spa at Canal Place. The event will also include raffles, a silent auction and music by Richard Knox & Company. Expect items donated by local artists Jamie Hayes and Daniel Garcia, The Court of Two Sisters, Irene’s, a portrait photo session with Larry Graham, products and services from the Paris Parker Aveda Salon & Spa at Canal Place and much, much more. Aurora and John will also be auctioning their time and talent for a one-of-a-kind creation.
Aurora Knox (Aurora Custom Couture) has been a resident of New Orleans for many years and was featured in the New Orleans Magazine, January 2008 issue. Aurora is self taught and her signature design look is “Classic Couture.” She is known for her great taste in textiles. John Delgadillo (CUTTING EDGE) is a former resident of Los Angeles and has lived in New Orleans for 2½ years. John started out as one of L.A.’s youngest designers, was a member of the Art and Fashion Group of Los Angeles and is now known for his classic simplicity with a slight edge. John and Aurora met two years ago on the 1200 block of Carondelet St where they both reside and are now a powerful design duo.
“I’ve had pets my entire life, so this event is a natural. As a child we always had dogs, cats, fish, birds and at one time had two dwarf rabbits. I now have Cami, a dapple miniature dachshund who coincidentally is the sister of Aurora’s dog, Sasha, who are both coincidentally sisters of the neighbor’s dog, Dora, who lives between us,” laughs Delgadillo.
Fashions showcased during the evening are concepts and are all ordered-to-fit, one-of-a-kind designs, featuring unique fabrics tailored for each individual body type.
