Bunny Boulevard or Cottontail Court?

You can help name rabbit sanctuary’s roads and win a cool prize.

Many of the rabbits from the Best Friends Great Bunny Rescue, two years ago, went to the Great Lakes Bunny Sanctuary in Michigan.

(We'd rescued more than 1,600 bunnies from a person's backyard -- dreadful situation -- and needed homes and sanctuaries for them ... fast!)

Great Lakes stepped in to help, and Best Friends helped provide them with new accommodations.

Now the Great Lakes Bunny Sanctuary needs some names for the new roads that wind through their haven. Here's what they're saying:

* * *

Haven’t you always thought – where in the world did they get that street name? Couldn’t they come up with something more original than Oak Street? I could have come up with something better than that!

Well now’s your chance to let your creative juices flow and have some fun! Help the Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary (GLRS) name the “streets” of our sanctuary. We have the largest rabbit sanctuary in the country and we’re doing some sprucing up this summer, to make it beautiful and fun for both the sanctuary rabbit residents and the human visitors. Some of the improvements that have already been made can be seen on our website.

There are about five paths on the property and the people who submit the top five names will receive a free GLRS t-shirt.

So what do you think? Do you have a suggestion for a new street name at the Great Lakes Bunny Sanctuary? Do you want the street named after you or maybe after your beloved bunny?

Hurry because the deadline to enter is Monday, July 7st!

• Get hoppin’ and enter the contest at here.

How you can help:

• While naming sanctuary streets can be fun, it is nothing compared to the joy of having a rabbit as a companion animal. A bunny in your family may just add a “bounce” to your step. Of course, GLRS has plenty of wonderful adoptable rabbits who are just waiting for the right loving home.
• There are many ways you can support GLRS. Please consider volunteering, sponsoring one of the residents, or donating needed supplies. All assistance is very much appreciated.

Patty, I totally agree. I sent some ideas in, and they just kept coming, sillier and sillier. They are going to be sorry they asked for help with this one! How could they chose with so many excellent ideas?!

It's about time people are starting to care enough about bunnies that they are rescuing them. How about Yogurt Drop Lane or Corn on the Cob Boulevard?

How about "CottonTrail"? Or "Hop-A-Long Road"? Or "Waskily Wabbit Way"? Or "Harepin Turn"? Oh, somebody please stop me! This can be very addictive.
