BRAVO to Randolph Iowa!!!!! How lucky are the people and feral cats of your area to have the Best Friends organization AND an open-minded and forward-thinking Mayor like His Honour Mr Vance Trively!!!
I fervently wish the people of MY city in Windsor, ON, Canada were of like mind...our Jazzpurr Society for Animal Protection has tried for SUCH a
long time to put in place a similar course of action, but sadly, their pleas continue to fall on deaf ears, despite the largest TNR-managed feral colony in Canada being located in our nation's capitol on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, ON!!!!!
Wishing all the very best to all parties involved in bringing about this victory for ferals everywhere. Keep up the wonderful work!
Peace,
Mare in Windsor, ON, Canada

We are proud to be partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to bring a TNR & maintain program to Randolph, Iowa.
After meeting with Mayor Trively, we'd like to say that the town of Randolph, IA, did not deserve the ridicule and attacks from organizations including thousands of angry letters.
Mayor Trively, for the record, was searching for someone to sit down with him, and listen to his problems with the increasing feral cat problem.
It's important for people to know, that while there is help needed, and there are both feral and tame cats needing spayed/neutered to bring the population under control, Mayor Trively sought help before it was so out of control that cats began dying from disease.
We are looking forward to getting a community on track with a system that will work for their town and control the feline population humanely.

Congratulations to Mayor Trively! I think at one time or another we have all been in the same boat as he was - we have to do something, we don't know what to do, don't know where to turn for help. Thank heavens in this situation his ray of hope came from Best Friends and the awesome Shelly Kotter.
Best Friends is successful in a situation like this because rather than telling you how awful and stupid you are, they say - we can help you, this problem is fix-able, let's work together. And who better to send than Shelly - her charm, work ethic, knowledge and love of ferals shines through.
Congratulations Best Friends

I am so glad to hear of the resolution that was reached involving this situation. I am on a list with Linda, one of the directors of RVAS, and I know directly her passion and concern for the wellbeing of animals, particularly those dogs and cats that fall through society's cracks and end up either uncared for or euthanized. Thank you for your good work both hands on and advocatorial!
