Last Sunday, a van carrying dozens of dogs from a Wisconsin shelter headed north to an animal rescue in Minnesota. Along the way, the snowy, icy roads contributed to the van crashing into a guardrail on interstate 39-90. Kennels broke open, and one of the puppies was nowhere to be found. This puppy was later found frozen to a wheel well of the van.
Good deed #1: The van was towed to Hillside Springs Hunt Club where the dogs were transferred to kennels, fed, and given a check by a veterinarian.
Good deed #2: The Twig Project of Madison (rescue group) took on some of the animals needing care, and brought additional supplies.
Good deed #3: Volunteers (friends and family of the Hunt Club owner) came to comfort the dogs and help with their care.
Good deed #4: The veterinarian who assisted with the dogs adopted the little frozen puppy, who survived the ordeal.
On Monday, the remaining dogs continued their journey to Minnesota.
What you can do: Remember that good deeds go a long way, and the feeling of helping those in need is priceless.
