Another little galga used, squeezed to the maximum, and discarded once the galgueros had taken all they wanted from her.
Once again we have taken another beautiful galga to the Málaga airport so that she may fly off in the direction of Holland, a country as pretty as she is. And all of this is possible thanks to the great help from Sandra, Mieke and all of members of their organisation.
Our vision is blurred by tears as we bid her farewell, and because we cannot understand why this breed of dog is doomed from birth to have the bloodiest of endings to their lives.
Belonging to the only European country that allows hunting with galgos, and with blood stained money that pays for their runs, is what gives rise to the unending litters that the galgueros extract so that they can choose the best, while discarding those that are of no use to them, and discarding also those that they are finished using, at the young age of two or three years.
The abandonments, the hangings, the abuse, the phone calls from the galgueros to the animal protection people threatening us that if we don't take their unwanted galgos, they will kill them,..........all of this with the aggravation of not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and with an administration that does nothing to end the galgo holocaust, makes our jobs as animal defenders sometimes seem unbearable.
