The Humane Society of the United States is hosting free Lobby 101 seminars -- Tuesday, October 30 in St. George, Wednesday, October 31 in Ogden and Thursday November 1 in Murray (Salt Lake City) -- where participants will learn how to make a tremendous difference for animals.
State Representative Jennifer Seelig and state Senator Gene Davis, supporters of Henry's Bill -- last year's bill to make the torture of an animal a felony offense -- are scheduled to attend the Salt Lake City seminar. This is a fantastic opportunity to speak directly with animal-friendly legislators. Don't miss out!
The Utah state legislature will reconvene in January and consider a bill to increase penalties for cruelty to animals. We will need your help to pass this important bill next year.
We want you to know the most effective ways to get involved and will show you basic "lobby" techniques for citizen activists and provide information regarding some of the bills and issues being considered this year.
As an added bonus, this seminar will equip you with the skills necessary to campaign for animals at the local level. Topics covered will include creating effective materials for local decision-makers and the media, organizing and strategic planning.
