Today is dedicated to remembering the loyal and brave canine rescuers that also risked life and limb in the search and rescue efforts following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Over 250 search and rescue dogs endured horrendous conditions to, first, search for any survivors and then, to search for bodies of the human victims from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and from United Flight 93’s remains in Pennsylvania.

Please use this link to view a beautiful, moving, and special tribute to those magnificent search and rescue dogs.
