He is a no-talent thug who has been made rich by promoting violence and crime. If all of his so-called fans were informed of this kind of cruelty and neglect to these poor dogs I wonder if their love for him would change. I think that his sorry behind should be left outside in the blistering heat without food or water. As a matter of fact, I feel that the REAL answer to animal cruelty should be what we have all been taught since childhood: "The Golden Rule", Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If all of these monsters were to suffer the abuse and neglect that they put innocent animals through then maybe they would try to be decent human beings, instead of just plain TRASH.

The article states that the rapper was upset that the caregiver was only checking on the dogs once a day. The condition of the dogs appears that they had not been checked on for a very long time. They need to make certain DMX NEVER has dogs again.

I know that reading this kind of story is heart-breaking to any animal lover, and it is a great idea to have a community that only focuses on positive things that people do for animal welfare. However, the reality is that these stories of neglect and abuse are the reason for all of us animal lovers to take action. If we continue to fight against all of the horrible people, then we will be able to see a rise in online communties that focus on the postive things that people do for animals.

You know, there is no doubt that spaying/neutering our companion animals is a smart, responsible thing to do.
But, I think we should start spaying/neutering ignorant humans, too.
They are ruining it for the rest of us. And worse...they past their ignorance down to their kids, and the cycle goes on.
Dont these knuckleheads understand that animals are NOT to be treated as "hood ornaments" or "social status" symbols, but instead as FAMILY?
Rappers, STOP buying Pit Bulls!
Teeny-Boppers, STOP buying Chihuahua's.
Start treating animals like FAMILY.

I am so sick of watching how these celebrities treat their animals..and some magazines seem to think it is OK to print these pictures and think nothing is wrong with it. Take loser Britney Sprears..everytime you turn around, she is getting another pet. She cant even take care of her kids, I shudder to think of how her animals are cared for! She takes a puppy into a nightclub! She drags these dogs around with her everywhere..arent they scared? Then she buys a bird. The poor thing is probably dead by now because I just cant see Britney cleaning its cage and remembering to feed it or give it water. I am sure all her pets are neglected. I am sure half of these idiot celeberties neglect their animals. Animals are not toys or show pieces..they have feelings.
Sorry..just had to rant..I just opened my People magazine and Britney was staring at me again, like she does every week.
What is even worse is that at one time DMX was paid (a lot of money) to put his name on a line of dog apparel! In light of the previous animal cruelty charges, the company dumped him, but here is someone that was making money off of portraying himself as a “dog lover”.

Look we have been shown by our wonderful officials that if you have money you can get out of any crime you have committed. It's up to us and our very loud vocies to help these animals and to stop this war on them. We really need to ban together now because of all the celebrities that are finally being caught and called on their actions. Our loud vocies are the only thing that can change peoples minds and I can already see a difference. We are adding more and more people to our fight for animals so let's just raise the volume another decible and keep going all the way. Next is all the pet breeders. ANIMAL SLAVERY makes me sick too!

As the Chair of Animal Chaplains.com, I have been horrified to learn about dogfighting and the cruel torturing, maiming, and killing that takes place in it. I am saddened that celebrities like athlete Michael Vick and rapper DMX have been implicated in such unbelievably sadistic crimes.
Like humans, animals are sentient beings who feel pain. We are instructed by all of the worlds major faiths to care for animals in responsible, loving ways. It is our moral and spiritual obligation to protect them.
Please join us on October 4th, 2007, in cities all around the world to celebrate "World Animal Day". On that day, animals will be blessed and honored, and we will hopefully all realize how lucky we are to have them in our world. For more information, search on the words "World Animal Day" for a celebration near you.

Simmon's lawyer said Simmon's is committed to his animals. He treats them like family. He even throws birthday partys for the. From the looks of the poor beasts in the photos Simmons should have been feeding them. The dogs have obviously been either fed improperly or not at all for some time. They are so thin.
poor babes. Is there no bottom to the cesspool of human cruelty?
I agree, Bogiedew. One would hope these useless celebrities have enough money to pay people to tend to their pets while they are out partying or commiting crimes (< ok, the last part there was a cheap shot - I admit it :)
But with DMX, his legal team is claiming the rapper paid someone to watch the dogs and they defaulted on the commitment. Normally I think that would "fly" except the previous conviction of animal abuse in 2002 belies the credibility of this guy.
What makes all this worse is that the media has no problem photoing these people with their dogs stuffed into bags, under arms in front of hundreds of people for interviewes, etc...essentially glamourizing the "dog is a possession" mentality.
I do find this to be a big contributor to the problem.

From looking at these pictures, it looks like those poor dogs had been neglected for quite some time. On one of those poor dogs, you could see every single rib. That, to me, doesn't look like the caretaker just defaulted on his/her commitment. Unless DMX had already been gone a long time. Oh, and why were they out in the heat? Doesn't DMX make enough money that his dogs could live inside? And on top of all of that, they found what could be drugs at the scene. I hope they investigate all of the aspects of this situation. He's just like Vick, somebody children do not need to be looking up to.

I'm thinking we should start a community on Happy Things - or perhaps on 'famous' people who treat their animals well........

Oh no! Those poor babies! Thank goodness they were rescued; I hope none of them suffered any long term damage from the neglect or the heat.
@jennifer, there was a story a few months ago about Rob Thomas and his wife. They went out to the Pets Alive sanctuary and helped out a lot. And there was also a bunch of celebrities who donated to an auction held by Dogs Deserve Better (I think Robin Williams donated the most). But you're right, the bad stories do significantly outweigh the good stories
: (
But hopefully with all these bad stories coming to light, some other celebrities will step up to the plate to show that they don't support animal abuse...

Well, with this thug, I doubt we can hurt him by stop buying his records because I doubt any of us listen to his trash.
Why does this keep happening?? Why does this culture of rap promote this garbage? How come this no talent thug rapper can be accused of animals cruelty 5 years ago and he has not one dog now, but TWELVE ??? And how come these high profile people think they can get away with these things?
I know one thing - it is the lacadaisical way many people think of animals and the coward elected officials who can;t get a backbone to pass tougher cruelty legislation.
There was an incredible dog torture case here on Long Island which disturbed many people. I am proud to say the County Executive here, without any protesting or grassroots campaign to nudge him, immediately put forth legislation to increase prison time for animal cruelty (which is a felony) and to also expand the forces who search for animal cruelty by assigning a county police officer to every ASPCA hub in the county. Now that is an elected official who kicks butt and does not care what the nay sayers are saying.
By the way, the sick thug who committed this torture was captured a week later after an enormous outpouring of people disgusted with this crime and a reward cache that grew to over $6000.
Now if we can just limit the amount of penalties reduced when someone takes a plea deal, maybe more people would be deterred from doing these sort of things. I mean, Vicks deal was significantly lower since he took a plea (even if it as on interstate commerce for illegal purposes) and quite honestly, a year in jail for this type of individual is a mere slap on the wrist. He will get out and has a whole lifetime ahead of him to do it again.
We need legislatures who are not afraid to get tough on animal cruelty. Here is a great link by the way to see laws and legislators stances on these:

I totally agree with you, phurrballe - It's all about corruption and greed. Public officials barely working - and collecting taxdollar salaries - and meanwhile these poor dogs are making millions for monsters, and the criminal thugs involved just keep on "greasing palms" of the politicians. Same old story! One of the first animal-cruelty arrests was for dogfighting - in the 19th century, I think it was in NYC. Has anything really changed??? I also agree with Tiffany, big time - "an eye for an eye" and that means the monsters who torture and kill these enslaved dogs should themselves be put on short chains with no water or food, and beaten like drums 'til they have open sores that fester and won't heal, and then have electric currents run through them, just like they do to the dogs. THAT WOULD BE JUSTICE.
Thanks Nancy. I am very interested in particpating in the World Animal Day and will look to see where on Long Island or NYC a celebration is taking place.
As for elected officials doing nothing, sadly that is indeed the case. Here on Long Island, however, our County Exec , Steve Levy, is making sure he steps forward. This guy is a hero in my mind. Here is a link of his immediate respons to the horrific animal cruelty that occured here on LI this summer. I hate even posting it becasue it stil reminds me of the sick garbage that committed this horrific heineous act. But Steve Levy stepped up to the task.
http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/pressreleases.cfm?dept=19&id=1973Now I just have to "hound" pun intended) the elected officials in the state legislature to pass the damn revisions Levy made. That is the tough part.
It never is a done deal till it is finally signed into law and even then the defense lawyers can pull deals but at least Levy did not wait to act. That is a politician you can respect, and believe me, there are not many.

My opinion, it is these thugs we read about that are always making the news that are cruel to animals. And we are the ones making them rich. (well..some of them) We have these sport celebrities making millions that can barely speak proper English. They are always getting in trouble, yet we idolize them..then we have these thug rappers making millions with their records, yet alls they do is rap about horrible things. And this is what our kids today look up to?
Although the dogs show scars consistent with fighting, it cannot be verified at this time if this is part of a dogfighting ring.
Who are these people kidding???? Why does anyone need 12 pitbulls on their property anyway, unless they are reputable breeders which we all know this guy is not, obviously he uses them for dog fighting. Even if one dog has fighting scars on them the owners should be charged with cruelty.I'm getting so sick and tired of these people blaming everyone else for the conditions of their dogs saying it was the "caretakers" fault..No its the owners fault its their responsibility to make sure their animals are being takin care of properly
