Dogfighting Rally/Vigil in Richmond on Thursday 7/26

Date and Time: Thursday, July 26th, 3:00 pm
Place: Richmond
We will meet at the Bell Tower located at 9th and Bank Streets (go through the wrought iron gates; Bell Tower is red brick on the left)[/b]

Virginia Voters for Animal Welfare send the following update:

This is the update on the dogfighting rally/vigil on Thursday, 7/26/07, in Richmond. (The first alert came out on 7/22/07 and can be seen in the VVAW website: www.VirginiaVotersForAnimalWelfare.com)

1. The rally/vigil is being held because of the court appearance of Michael Vick, recently indicted regarding dogfighting.

2. We will meet at the Bell Tower located at 9th and Bank Streets (go through the wrought iron gates; Bell Tower is red brick on the left).

We will meet at 3:00 pm.

There will be at least one VVAW sign to identify us to each other.

3. We will walk as a silent group from the Bell Tower to 10th and Main.

Mr. Vick is expected to be at the Federal Courthouse at 3)30 pm for the bail hearing.

We will honor, by our presence, the dogs who lived and died at the Surry County property owned by Mr. Vick, and honor the dogs who have survived and are currently being held for the case. Imagine what they have gone through and the future they face

4. We will honor, by our presence, the dogs who lived and died at the Surry County property owned by Mr. Vick, and honor the dogs who have survived and are currently being held for the case. Imagine what they have gone through and the future they face.

5. We will come appropriately dressed with men and women wearing black or somber business attire. This is in many ways a funeral. We ask that you please dress accordingly.

No Photos or Live Dogs Please

6. Because of other activities that we understand are planned at the site, we have decided NOT to have any photos of dogs, and we have already asked that no live dogs be brought.

We will be far more eloquent by our demeanor and silence.

7. No advice is being given regarding driving or parking, but assume it will not be easy.

8. For those of you who attend, we would like to hear your thoughts about the vigil.

Goal is to speak out - without saying a word - against the horror of bloodsport

9. Our goal on Thursday is to speak out - without saying a word - against the horror of bloodsport.

We want all involved in animal fighting and all who are (or should be) investigating and prosecuting animal fighting to know that we commit to the elimination of this barbaric activity.

10. Sharon Cornett, Lisa Compton and Catherine Harold have worked for hours on putting this together. Please find them and thank them on Thursday or whenever you can.
