GEORGIA GROUP OF THE WEEK
Name of organization: DART (Dade Animal Rescue Team)
Address: P.O. Box 1248
Trenton, GA 30752
Phone number: 706.657.8593
Contact name: Cheryl Douthat
Email address: CDouthat@TVN.net
Website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/dart.html
Types of animals rescued: Dogs and Cats
Philosophy:
We are here to promote the spaying and neutering of all dogs and cats; to educate people in the humane treatment of animals; to promote the responsible care and ownership of animals; to prevent cruelty to animals; and to receive and manage money and property for these purposes.
History:
Our group was formed in 2006 once it was realized that our current shelter was totally inadequate and was 100% euthanasia.
What is your future?
Until a new shelter can be built in 2008, we will continue to care for and adopt out as many animals as we possibly can save.
What are your needs and volunteer opportunities?
We have the same needs as others, for donated food and pet care supplies. Monetary donations, of course, are always helpful as well.
Would you be willing to work with other rescue organizations in order to meet the needs of more animals? Yes
In the event of another disaster such as Katrina, would your organization be willing to:
yes, to all of them!
Send volunteers to a remote rescue site?
Transport animals?
From a central rescue site take more animals and supplies on a permanent or temporary basis at you home location?
Pictured is Jake, taken from their website. What a beautiful boy! He looks like a lot of fun to play with! To find out more information about him, please visit their website.
