TNR--the way to go. I applaud all those who help the ferals.
I just recently started helping out feeding and caring for some ferals in my neighborhood. While it's not as big a problem where I live as it is in other places, it is so effective and far better than the uninformed alternative of shooting or poisoning.

I have 5 feral cats in my yard- 2 which lived here when I moved in. I would like to bring a mother feral and her three kittens in for spaying. I can trap the mother and kittens which will be 7 weeks next week and I have socialized them for adoption. I can bring the mother cat and kittens in as long as I can use my own pet carrier. Is this okay or do I need a special trap?

Dambruso, I would recommend contacting Leticia Stivers at the Austin Humane Society at 512-646-7387 extension 245 to get specific details. The cats that I saw when I was there to write the story were all brought in live traps, but also had a carrier to be put in for return to the trappers post-surgery. I'm sure she could be a weath of information about socializing feral kittens as well.
Thanks for helping them.

Almost $100,000 from Petsmart.
I am impressed. Their charitable giving program is really admirable.
