I hope that they all get adopted but I really hope that Whiskey finds his forever person. Doesn't he have the cutest face? He must be a big cuddlebug!!
so curious as to which chritters are attending...especially GA or Leb ones. I keep hoping for that forever home for Dilly, and Tobin...

Yes, please post which dogs have been adopted! We've heard through the grapevine that Idifix is one of them, but we need details and confirmation please!
Congratulations on the kitties who've found their homes so far!!
Tamara
They wrote a nice blog yesterday on the results of the adoption event. I guess it just hasn't found a home yet so here the link:

Yep. All the Kitty Motel Room Four guys got a home.
Astro was in Benton's Adoptables and Isadora from Morgaine's Room Two.
hopefully more adoptions next time, what with the traffic problems. anyways, glad to hear about the ones that found homes so far, thanks to all who helped out. and i repeat, is there any chance of any of the incontinent cats like dilly getting to any of the events? b/c it seems like them and the FIV+ ones have the hardest times finding their forever homes.
Hi All-- This is Isadora's new family! She is well on her way to making herself comfortable and loved in her new home! Right now she is sitting behind me on the bed and giving herself a bath. She took a nap with me earlier this afternoon. She has a precious girly meow. She found the stairs in the house and loves to run up and down them. She has her own "room" upstairs. She has been very good at using the litter box and we have found that her favorite place to be is UP. UP on the kitchen counter, UP on the stairs, UP on the table and most definitely UP on the soft bed. She is adjusting well to her new AZ home. She has filled our home, now her home with her sweet spirit.

Isadora had some birds outside her run, but her run is next to where the road comes into cats. So we don't get much wildlife hanging out there except maybe at night when no one is around.
Which means she'd be used to the occasional car or tour van driving by.
Quail are here in the Canyon, but I don't see them up near the cat runs. Turkeys come by a lot.
Appliance noises would be a new thing for her. Since she was only a kitten when Katrina hit, she may never have been familiar with appliances. And they weren't used much in her area at CS.

Thank you for the update on Isadora. I know several people from the recuse center who will be very happy she found a good home.
While five was a small number compared to the last Tempe trip, we did place three special needs cats.
Tempe is a very welcoming place and I'm sure we'll be back.
On which cats:
Pretty unlikely that we'd bring the incontinent cats, especially if they need expressing. It takes more screening for them as well to find a good home. So we tend to adopt them from the sanctuary.
FIV+ cats do come to events, but we tend to only bring one or two at a time. Raed was to come to Tempe, but he seems to have picked up a chronic upper respiratory condition. Hopefully he'll clear up and be available for an outing.
The FIV+ cats we have we have on a lower frequency rotation, due to concern over stressing them. It's something that's different with each cat though.
Some cats we could probably take every week, others are every couple months.

Kate,
Thank you for the update on Dady and for giving him a life-long home. He is quite special (and fuzzy)! He was always the one I could take walking when I was tiered and knew I needed a gentle peaceful break.
Does anyone know how Isadora got her name? I am assuming that since she was a homeless cat from Hurricane Katrina that someone along the way gave her her name. Was just wondering if there is any significance.
Isadora is adjusting well. She is a very smart and beautiful cat! She wasn't quite sure about the "other cat" she saw in the reflection in the mirror this morning. We have a big set of mirrored doors on our master bedroom closet and she was on the bed and saw the "other cat" and got all fluffed out and slowly walked towards the mirror until she figured out it was her.
She seems to like dry food much better than the canned Friskies I have gotten for her. She's a nibbler.
She's much more fond of playing with paper than cat toys. Silly kitty! She got to see quail in the backyard today. I have the shades open so she can look out.
Thank You soooo much for the details on Isadora's name. Half the time we call her Izzy. She gets these little kitten bursts of energy every once in a while and runs around the house. I was wondering if it might be connected to the fact that it has been a bit windy here since yesterday. I'm sure she must have some fears of storms because of Katrina. She's liking the dry food (Science Diet) much better than the canned food. She begs for the dry food and turns her nose up at the canned. She loves to rub up against all sorts of stuff in the house. I'm working on discouraging her to do the lift her tail and pretend to spray thing. If I distract her or snap my fingers she usually stops. Has anyone ever noticed her trait of standing with one paw up? I looked it over and don't see any problems. She walks/runs/pulls herself across the floor fine with it. Celebration Station? Was that in New Orleans or there in Kanab? We are originally from UT, Roy/Provo. It is only fitting that Isadora has a connection to UT. Our beloved cat Grey Poupon came from a pet store in Layton. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge almost 3 years ago at the grand age of almost 21 years. Our Siberian Husky Natasha crossed the bridge just a year ago. Isadora is filling a big space in our hearts. Were you here in Tempe? Did we meet? Thanks for the info!

Oh yea, didn't mention who I was. I'm Mark, the person who adopted Isadora out to you. ;)
Celebration Station was the old Arcade/Pizza place in Metairie (suburb of New Orleans)
I noticed that tail thing for the first time in Tempe in her cage. According to some people, if a cat is doing that fake spraying, they don't ever spray for real. We were adopting a cat that would do the same thing and she never sprayed.
Something for me to lookup to see if there's any other discussions on.
Mark, if you can pass on whatever you know of Isadora's life before she came to us I would appreciate it. Could she hear much of the noises outside of her home at Best Friends? She seems perplexed by what she hears here. Of course, our birds are different than yours. She was in stalking mode when 8 quail made their way thru the backyard this morning! She has full run of the house now. She's been such a sweetheart we are so glad she has come to live with us!
Hello to all -
I am Dady's new owner. Its AMAZING to see how much you all loved and cared for him...My 5 1/2 year old son, Declan fell in love with him and Dady has returned our affection ten fold. He's wonderful walking with Declan and prooves no challenge on the lead. He always sleeps on the bed - or starts out there because he gets to serious panting, ends up right next to me on the floor so I can still pet his head. At the moment, all three of my dogs are sleeping in various parts of the kitchen!
He seems to be settling down, still follows me wherever I go in the house. Will have to crate train him for housebreaking but seems to be understanding where he's supposed to be going by following the actions of the other two.
I'm so honored to be able to give a home to such a lovely animal who managed to survive -with the help of others - such difficult circumstances. Thanks to Best Friends for bringing him here.
...as I told Danielle, when a friend of my son's asked Saturday why we got 'another dog', his response was "We gave him a home." : )

I'm the one that named her along with the others that were sent back from Celebration Station.
We didn't really name the cats there, since it was more a way station and I figured the adoptor or other shelter would name them.
She had a nickname, Kitty?, and I wasn't going to keep that one, so I went thru a mental list.
I settled on Isadora which is after a wooden cat my wife has had since childhood. So she's had the name for a little more than a year.
I love hearing about her progress.

Aren't Edgar, Zueban and Wobbles all from Kitty Mo 4? They are all such sweet cats, and that Edgar, what a character. I am thrilled to hear they have found their forever homes. Along with Isadora and Astro.
Way to go guys :-)
