Also important to note, Utah and Minnesota are the only two states that still have laws requiring that publicly funds animal shelters that turn over unclaimed animals for research.
Pound seizure is the sale of cats and dogs from a pound or shelter to research labs. The ultimate fate of these former companion animals is death. But before they die, they may suffer greatly.

I called Rep. Noel at his home base # and left him a message, then actually caught him on his cell. He wasn't aware of the bill, but seemed interested and said he would ask Rep. Scott Wyatt about it.
I also left a message in support of S 190 on Sen. Dennis Stowell's cell phone.
If others call, too and it should really make an impression!
Thanks for considering it...

The Utah legislature only meets for 45 days each year. The session started Jan. 15. These bills are likely to be heard by committees this week. We need your help. Call or write Utah legislators and let them know you support making the torture of an animal a felony and want judges to be able to issue orders of protection to prevent animal abuse. For more on the pending bills to strengthen animal cruelty laws in Utah, click on the link below. You will also find information about how to get up to the minute email alerts about these bills.
Thank you. Laura

Okay, just got off the phone with Noel again, who was sitting on the House floor at the moment.
He thanked me for calling again, said that he hadn't had a chance to talk with Wyatt about it yet, and was wondering which committee it was being heard in (I didn't know).
Anyway, he said there was a 90% chance he's support it when it comes up.
