Dog Transport Volunteers...Carrying Dogs to Freedom

Dog Transport Volunteers is a group for animal lovers who want to help pull from shelters, overnight/temp foster animals and help with transports or rescue functions.

There are many organizations in the United States & Canada that need help safely transporting their rescues across multiple states/provinces.

The purpose of this group is to provide a way for animals lovers to help animals travel through their state and to provide a resource for organizations to help fill legs by compiling a database of contacts for every state or providence. Please join this group and add your name and contact information to the U.S.A. or Canada Contact List. Also if you do any other rescue function there is a database to list yourself there also.

The big difference of this group is that you will not be bombarded with hundreds of messages requesting help in transports. You will receive email with specific Subject Lines that allow you to quickly browse to see if there is help needed in your state. Or messages that subject any other rescue function needed.

Then you can easily look up your state in the database and see how you can volunteer. No more scrolling thru long posts. When you get in the Database, it is set up in a spread sheet style. Easy to scan for your state, city with contact information.

Databases included are: Contact List of all Members, Transport Coordinators, Upcoming Transports, Overnights, Home Visits, Pulls, Shelter Volunteers and Long Distance Drivers.

Because there is personal contact information in our Databases, you will need to join to participate. This is to protect our current member's privacy.

I have been in rescue for almost 10 years. I have
been asked to pull together a transport from MO
to the NE or thereabouts. What are the requirements for a transport, and can I request help from the Best Friends network dog transport
volunteers since I belong to it? Sorry, I havent been
in touch with Best friends for awhile, except for the Puppy Mill Awareness Day held in PA on Oct 20, 2008. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks,

Is there anyone in the Sauderton PA area that could help us transport a puppy? We live in Maine and are trying to arrange transport for a 3 month old we are adopting. Any closer to us would help!

Dear Fellow Members,
On Dec 7th. of last year a story I wrote for this Network (The Story of Lucy: How One Puppy Mill Dog Found Her Forever Home) .

It opened with this Prologue:

"Every weekend across this great land thousands of caring animal lovers perform a wonderful life saving service to animals by organizing or driving a leg or more in the Train to Freedom known simply as Transport. Perhaps you have already done it yourself, or perhaps you would like to help and don’t know how or that this system even existed.
You may be a rescue, a retiree, a young person who is looking for a way to help animals without days and weeks of time to spare…just a few hours a week, reliable transportation , and a few extra dollars in your pocket for gas.
The need is real, as are the rewards in knowing you have helped yet another animal reach his or her new home and in doing so, saved another from death.
In the future, we on the Network hope that this Site will become a nationwide HUB for all organized Transport Groups across the country to list their orgs. as a community, perhaps by state or region (as so many transports cross several state lines).
I encourage them all to do so and am sure this will add to their lists of willing driver volunteers and perhaps coordinators and in turn will enable that many more animals who otherwise would have no chance at a new life find their way to a new loving home."

We now have a new Marvelous tool, created by a dedicated team of fellow Animal Lovers. It is one they had advised me was coming and now it is available. I truly hope ALL members will use this tool and will also tell everyone they know about it and about the joy of transport.

Drivers are in short supply all over the country. There are ALWAYS transports available just about EVERYWHERE!
