Advocates Say Help Enforce Stricter Laws

A man who admits he put his wife's dog in a 200-degree oven and put out his eye with a leaf blower was sentenced Monday.

Marc Vincent will spend the next six months in jail, and will be on probation for two years. He also has to pay a 500-dollar fine and restitution of nearly one thousand dollars to his wife to pay for the dog's vet bills.

41 other states do call animal abuse a felony, but despite repeated attempts, the bill has never passed in Utah. Baierschmidt says he will again push to get it passed in the legislature this year.

That's alllll!?!?! Come on, Judge!! It's a SERIOUS abuse, just like hushand abusing wife. SAME violent as abusing animal! If husband abuses wife, he spends jail time for 5 years. If man abuses animal, he spends jail for FIVE years, too!!! Not just six months!?
