How you can help…
Starting June 27, 2009, First Home Forever Home of Best Friend’s, will launch the first Four Legged Pet Food Drive here in North Carolina, as well as several other states. Team FHFH is targeting the families that have suffered job losses, foreclosures and more, and giving them a better chance of not having to turn there pet over to a shelter.
According to the article posted by Ellen Gilmore, Campaign Coordinator for Team FHFH, the goals that hopefully will be reached are:
To support food pantry work and current needs for pet food that will help people keep their pets in these difficult economic times.
To increase awareness about homeless animals and the goal of reaching a day when there are No More Homeless Pets.
It is also noted that ‘every community has a homeless pet problem. However, in the past year, the number of pets who become homeless via relinquishment and abandonment has increased because of current economic conditions, foreclosures and joblessness.
In order to aid the most families with pets as possible, Best Friends campaign to boost donations of pet food to local agencies that provide this help are happening in many cities across the US. Raleigh, NC is one of them. The following dates, time and places are the events taking place her in NC….

So how can you help?
There are a couple of ways you can do that. One way is to contact your local food bank to make a donation of pet food. First Home Forever Home is compiling a list of organizations that provide pet food to families in need. You can see the list in the Food Banks folder on the resources in this community. For here in Raleigh, the ASPCA has an actual Pet Food Pantry and you can contact Darci Vanderslik at (919) 532-2088.
The link below is also another way to donate through FHFH.

With your help, lets keep families and their pets together as it should be.
