Thanks to plea for assistance, Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake receives 8,000 pounds of food and animals are being adopted
UPDATE: 6/23/09: Two days after local station broadcast the story about the desperate situation for a Henderson County animal shelter, viewers are changing the future for pets who were facing doom.
The shelter was facing a terrible situation with food donations almost gone, the shelter's manager knew she would soon have to either euthanize dozens of animals or risk them all starving.
In a outpouring of support people turned up to donate food and adopt animals, giving the shelter's inhabitants a second chance at life. About 20 animals were adopted and lots of food was donated.
It is hoped that the new friends made will continue to support the shelter so that they do not face a situation like this in the future.

According to WFAA.com, due to of a severe lack of funding, the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake, located in Tool, Texas (about 60 miles southeast of Dallas) is unable to afford the approximately $1,000 per month to feed its 140 animals. Typically their food is donated; however, supplies are now “dangerously low.”
If they do not receive help, the shelter president feels she will have no choice but to euthanize animals.
