First annual SurfinPaws Dog Jam is slated for July in Huntington Beach, CA
It’s summertime-school is out, the surf is up, and everyone flocks to the beach. Surf City becomes the target for water athletes of all sizes, ages and genders. And breeds!
Next month, canines are invited to show off their surfing skills at the first annual SurfinPaws Dog Jam, benefiting the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The event takes place on July 11, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dog Beach in Huntington Beach, CA. Red carpet and auction festivities will follow the competition at the Waterfront Hilton Huntington Beach from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
“This is Surf City, USA! A surf competition for dogs is long overdue in Huntington Beach,” said René Bruce, event coordinator, in his press release. “OCSPCA’s need for funds was reason enough to make SurfinPaws happen and we’re thrilled to get this event going!”
Registration is open to dogs of all ages, sizes and abilities, with a $25.50 per dog registration fee profiting the OCSPCA. Red carpet spectator tickets are also available for $10.50 per person. The surf competition is open to the public and free for anyone to watch.
