Flip, a one-and-a-half year old, was rescued by humane law officers from a home where he wasn’t being given the love and care he needed and deserves. Eight-year old August was surrendered because the people she called family decided that they no longer wanted her—after five years of living with her. The kittens in another kennel are the result of a careless owner who didn’t have the mother cat spayed. The babies are patiently waiting for their adoptive parents to give them a wonderful new home.

June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat month. The PSPCA Adoption Centers located throughout Pennsylvania have many fabulous feline friends of all ages looking for new homes.

PSPCA adoption centers are open seven days a week and are located throughout Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Adoption Center, located at 350 E. Erie Avenue, is open weekdays from 1- 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The adoption fee is $75 for kittens under six months and $50 for cats over six months, payable by cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and debit cards. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, three weeks of free clinic care and all necessary vaccinations through the first year.

To view some of the cats currently available at PSPCA shelters, find adoption center hours of operation and learn about PSPCA adoption events in our communities, visit http://www.pspca.org.

Unable to adopt a cat, but want to help the PSPCA? Consider sponsoring a PSPCA cat. A gift of $150 for a cat or kitten will cover all expenses for that special animal while he or she waits to be adopted, including medical costs, food, spaying or neutering and behavioral training. Donors will receive a photo and the story of their sponsored animals. For information, contact Emily Simmons, PSPCA development associate, at 215-426-6304, ext. 265 or esimmons@pspca.org.

The Pennsylvania SPCA is dedicated to rescuing animals from abuse and neglect, providing lifesaving care and treatment, guaranteeing a home for every adoptable animal, and reducing pet-overpopulation through low-cost spay-and-neuter clinics and public awareness initiatives. Through these efforts, we prevent cruelty towards animals and promote respect for their welfare, thus enhancing the lives of people and their companion animals throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Headquartered in Philadelphia, PSPCA has satellite shelters in Wellsboro, Centre Hall, Danville and Montrose. The Philadelphia branch houses a full-service animal hospital, obedience training academy, adoption facility and the PSPCA Law Enforcement Department, which is responsible for enforcing Philadelphia and Pennsylvania animal cruelty laws. In Philadelphia, the Animal Care and Control Team Powered by the PSPCA (ACCT) is charged with enforcing the City’s animal control codes, as well as finding homes for Philadelphia’s thousands of stray and surrendered adoptable animals via rescue, foster care and adoption.
