Casper’s misadventure with a tire

By Barbara Silverman

A fun-loving Siamese from Suffolk discovered that it is not a good idea to stick ones head inside a spare tire.

Fortunately for the cat a passer-by discovered Casper with his head stuck and called the RSPCA. The officers, not having the proper equipment, took the tire and cat to the Bury St Edmunds fire station. Here it took the fire-crew an hour to free him.

It required the construction of a special plastic guard to protect the cat’s head while the firemen used cutting equipment on the tire. Casper, unhappy with the ordeal but unharmed, was finally freed and is now under the care of RSPCA officer Amy Stubbs, who loves cats.

Unfortunately, the tire did not survive the operation.
