The Lycoming County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recently took in 22 dogs from an Elmsport breeder, and expects a few more to soon follow. The dogs are from an Elmsport breeder who decided to close up shop in the face of new Pennsylvania regulations for dog breeding.

According to the shelter, most of the dogs taken in from the breeder have already been adopted, or have “holds” placed on them. The shelter has been receiving a lot of inquiries due to local newspaper coverage. After further communication with the breeder, they are now expecting only a few more dogs to come in, instead of the 40 that were originally reported to arrive.
So far, all of the dogs received appear to be purebreds or crosses. For the most part they are in relatively good health, aside from some grooming issues, which the shelter is addressing.

However, while some are quite social and outgoing, others are shier and may not have received adequate socialization. The dogs will need help with housebreaking in their new homes. Anyone interested in adopting can stop by the Lycoming County SPCA to meet the dogs during their regular business hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sundays.
What you can do
The shelter has plenty of food for the dogs, but they are always in need of paper towels, bleach, and laundry detergent. Please spread the word!
Donations can be sent to:
Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.

While still very reserved, she will gladly accept treats and affection. The shelter believes she is around 4 years of age. She is a very sweet dog and still looking for a home.
