This Sunday, March 8th, Zephyr Stadium with be filled with barks of delight, as the Krewe of Arfus Pet Parade rolls. A joint effort of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Argus, Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter, and Friends of JPAS, the event is open to all. For all the information on registering for the event, please go to the Krewe of Arfus website.
A special treat this year includes the reigning royalty, King Jeffrey and Queen Theresa. You may recall the story of little Theresa, the little black terrier mix who, while at the JPAS, nursed not only her litter of pups, but two more litters, as well. Happily, all her pups and foster pups were adopted. But then Theresa found herself in need of a home of her own. Through the dedicated work of several Louisiana rescuers, a forever home is just what Theresa got, and just in time for Christmas. You can read the complete story on the BFAS Network Louisiana Community here.
In addition to the parade of pets, many rescue organizations will be in attendance, with dogs all spiffed up, looking for their forever homes. Large and small, black, white, and everything in between, if you are looking for a new family member, he or she may be there waiting just for you at the Arfus Parade.
To read all about the event and to register for the parade, go to the Krewe of Arfus website.
